In a Reading

In the 7th degree of Swords, thought and intellect are most active in the world, heading toward the perfection of the 8 of swords. In this Arcanum we find ourselves in the service of others, imbued with humanitarian concerns.

On the darker side, this card may forebode treachery, trickery, dishonesty, theft, and unreliability. This side of the Seven of Swords warns, “Be suspicious, be careful to whom you give your trust.” It may appear as the sign of a malicious thought process, chronic procrastination, hiding from the truth, hidden agendas, and dishonest motives. It reveals someone with the desire to deceive or sneak off, to run away from responsibilities. Embodying the “Lone Wolf” mentality, this Seven illustrates the desire to act alone, to be solitary, to bypass standards; to arrogantly dismiss peer-reviewed research as bumbling. All the while, this person is probably making things worse for him or her self by running away.

Another facet of this card is the revelation of a time to look within at spiritual or physical concerns. To see something hidden within oneself that needs to be addressed or acknowledged.

Multiple Sevens in a Spread: 3 sevens reveals that an agreement will be made or a contract signed. 4 sevens forebode a disappointment.
